Dr. S. Karuthiah Pandiyan, Director, BIM in his welcome address said that every one of the students present is a leader and the founding fathers of the institute made it clear that the vision is to create leaders rather than managers. The institution has carved an enviable niche for itself in the field of management education in the last 36 years. Being consistently ranked as one of the top B-Schools in the country, BIM has always been a pioneer in introducing industry relevant contemporary courses. He impressed upon the two core programs that add to the academic excellence of BIM. One being the Corporate Immersion Programme (CIP) which makes the students industry-ready and makes them learn contemporary tacit knowledge in management. The other is an exploratory journey called Village Immersion Program (VIP) introduced from the year 2018-2019. The aim of VIP is to live in a selected village for 10 days to understand the development needs of the village and come up with a practical solution. The programs have added enormous value to the students through immersive experience. The director added that a graduation signifies progress, growth and transformation and it means that the students are ready to start a new chapter in their life. He asked the students to stay humble, be curious and be willing to learn the ropes as they progress. Leadership is about the practices, leaders use to transform values into actions, visions into realities, obstacles into innovations, seperateness into solidarity and risks into rewards. He concluded his address by saying that he had confidence that the students will transform the environment in which they choose to operate and bring glory to themselves, their family, their organization and their alma mater.
Shri. N. Bala Baskar in his felicitation address spoke on what success and happiness means to every individual. He persuaded the students to follow their path of success parallel to happiness.
Thiru. Harpreet Singh Tibb, in his graduation day address, spoke about sustainability as one of the key highlights of the future, with people primarily associating it with environmental conservation, it is also about the people and the health of our communities. In his view “Meeting our present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” was key. Mr. Harpreet believes that sustainability needs to be driven at three different levels – Individual, Organization and Government. He insisted that students should question themselves on their larger purpose and not only on chasing short term growth targets. He also said that action needs to be taken now and hence each one of us i.e. the bright young minds are expected to help the community to tackle the challenges faced by every single organization – Public or private in the country.
