Greetings from Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli.

2023-24 has been a fascinating year for BIM, witnessing a watershed moment in our institute’s history: The completion of 40 glorious years and the laying of the foundation stone for our new campus by the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu. Below, I highlight a few of our institute’s achievements during its 40^th year.

The first batch of the prestigious Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Fellowship (TNCMFP) will graduate this year, significantly contributing to the public policy research domain and identifying and addressing key governance issues through developing various KPIs.  In addition, we have been appointed as the academic partner for the State Planning Commission, Government of Tamil Nadu, to develop Block Development Strategies for 12 blocks in Tamil Nadu based on a few identified KPIs.  We have consistently achieved 100% admission and placement. We are perhaps one of the very few B Schools in the country to get our placement data audited by CRISIL as per the Indian Placement Reporting Standard. Our first-year students got the second rank globally in the CAPSIM Foundation challenge in 2024. BIM students have consistently won competitions by corporates and B schools nationwide.

Our commitment to the development of the local ecosystem is unwavering. We have established a Centre for Sustainable Development and a Centre for Design Thinking, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. These centers are not just about applying theories but about taking the knowledge to the grassroots to develop better products, improve service delivery, and provide market linkage, thereby enhancing the overall competitiveness of the local ecosystem. We are proud to work with several local firms in the region. We are also the first Institute in Tamil Nadu to set up a Financial Trading and Analytics Centre with 12 Bloomberg terminals and NSE Smart Trading Simulation software, a testament to our stress on industry-aligned learning pedagogy. This center also helps students prepare for CMT and BMC certification. We have also set up a Real-Time Contextual Marketing Lab, Centre for Operations Excellence (in collaboration with O9 Solutions and InChainge), and RPA Lab (in partnership with qBotica), intending to open these facilities to students from other B-schools as well.

Our research activities have seen significant growth, with many faculty members publishing scholarly articles in high-impact journals. We are proud to have recently launched our Case Centre, a platform for sharing and discussing real-world business cases. Our Centre for Sustainable Development is actively working on several projects in the sustainability domain, including one of our faculty members being appointed as an advisor to the CMDA for economic viability analysis in urban development and review of the City’s Economic plan. These initiatives demonstrate our progress in advancing intellectual capital and our potential for future collaborations in the research and development sector.
