L Somasundaram is an economic analyst with 22 years of experience in consulting, and economic research. His consulting and research assignments include wide range of sectors including water, sanitation, solid-waste management, urban governance and rural development. Before joining BIM as faculty, he was Director – Research at Akara Research & Technologies where he implemented ICT-based solutions powered by real-time data and GIS based dissemination that aided informed decision-making. Earlier, he was the Executive Director of the Centre for Development Finance at IFMR, Chennai and Economist at Reliance Industries Ltd in its Business Intelligence Unit at Chennai.

He is currently a mentor for start-ups at Atal Incubation Centre at Sri Krishnadeveraya University, Anantapur.
He has a post graduation in Econometrics and MBA in Finance.
