In his inspiring speech, Dr. C. Rangarajan, former Governor – RBI, emphasized the following aspects during the 28th Graduation Day address at BIM Trichy:
“The New Economic Policy of India has not necessarily diminished the role of state; it has only redefined it, expanding it in some areas and reducing it in others. As has been said, somewhat paradoxically, more market does not mean ‘less government’ but only ‘different government’.
“Improving productivity of course is a function of many factors. The macro policy framework, the structure of individual industries and micro management practices must be such as to compel individual units to increase productivity. Improved managerial practice has to be one important element in this strategy to achieve enhanced productivity. It is here in your role as future professionals comes in.”
